The Challenge
Augment arrived with a bold ambition: to fundamentally reimagine how businesses move money across borders using blockchain technology. While the technology was revolutionary—enabling near-instant settlement, radical transparency, and significantly lower fees than traditional banking rails—the challenge was communicating this without falling into the typical crypto aesthetic trap.
The payments industry is built on trust, reliability, and clarity. Augment needed a brand identity that felt credible to CFOs and finance teams while still signaling genuine innovation. They were entering a space crowded with blockchain startups promising disruption but often delivering nothing more than speculative hype and visual chaos.
The brief was clear: make blockchain payments feel inevitable, not experimental.
The Approach
Our strategy centered on a critical insight: Their competitive advantage isn't the blockchain itself—it's what the blockchain enables. Faster settlements. Complete visibility. Lower costs. Better control. These are the things finance teams actually care about.
We positioned Augment not as a crypto company, but as a payments infrastructure company that happens to use blockchain. The difference is everything.
Through workshops with their founding team and interviews with early beta clients, we identified the core brand attributes that would guide the visual direction: precise, forward-thinking, transparent, and uncompromisingly reliable.
The Identity
The wordmark uses a contemporary geometric sans-serif with subtle modifications that suggest connectivity and flow—a nod to the constant movement of global transactions. The letterforms are clean and confident, designed to sit comfortably alongside established financial technology brands while still feeling distinctly modern.
The mark works across scales, from app icons to large-format applications, and its modular construction allows for subtle animation in digital contexts.
For typography, we paired a refined modern serif for headlines with the brand's geometric sans-serif for body copy. This combination creates tension in the right way—sophistication meets functionality, tradition meets innovation.

The System
We built a comprehensive visual system that feels at home in both fintech boardrooms and modern startup offices. The brand guidelines establish clear principles for everything from data visualization to photographic style, ensuring Augment always communicates with clarity and authority.
Custom iconography was developed to represent key platform features—each icon built on the same geometric principles as the logo, creating a cohesive visual language. These icons are functional first, but never sacrifice aesthetic quality.
The collateral system includes pitch decks, product sheets, and integration documentation—materials designed to be as clear and efficient as Augment's technology. We avoided the temptation to over-design, instead focusing on hierarchy, readability, and strategic use of the brand's distinctive elements.
The Digital Expression
Augment's digital presence extends the brand's precision and clarity. The website uses dark backgrounds to create depth and focus, with the accent strategically deployed to guide users through key information. Animations are subtle and purposeful—reinforcing the sense of seamless flow that defines the product experience.
The platform UI itself adopts the brand's visual language, ensuring that every interaction with Viewport reinforces the brand promise: payments that work the way they should.
The Impact
Since launch, Augment has successfully positioned itself apart from the crypto noise. Enterprise clients consistently mention the brand's professional presence as a factor in choosing Viewport over competitors. The identity has facilitated partnerships with major financial institutions who might have dismissed a more typical blockchain startup on sight alone.
Most tellingly, when presenting to skeptical finance teams, Augment no longer has to overcome visual credibility gaps before getting to the substance of their offering. The brand opens doors and keeps them open.
